Hammer Nutrition: 60-Second Summary
Alright stop. Hammer time! We couldn’t resist that segway from a song that came out around the same time as Hammer Nutrition, a powerhouse supplement company geared toward athletes and the active. The brand has just four CBD options, each with all-natural ingredients, two of which are water soluble. We like their sourcing and their processes, but they come up short because they do not post independent CoAs. And in an interesting twist, Hammer Nutrition has the identical CBD offerings of another vendor reviewed by us.
Hammer Nutrition Brand Review
Hammer Nutrition is first and foremost a nutritional supplement company. The brand was founded in 1987 and produces a wide range of products for hard-core athletes, active people, and anyone who wants to feel their best. These include protein powders, vitamin supplements, nutrition bars, and more under the categories of fuels, supplements, and kits (sample packs and catered bundles). In addition to providing great products, Hammer Nutrition prides themselves on educating their customers; their website is a wealth of information sure to point any inquisitive consumer in the right direction.
There’s an interesting overlap here with another CBD brand reviewed by us. Brian Frank, owner and co-founder of Hammer Nutrition, is also the president of Big Sky Botanicals. And guess what? The Big Sky Botanicals products and the Hammer Nutrition CBD products are exactly the same! We see nothing wrong with it, especially since both brands sell the products at the same price, but we think you should be aware.
Like Big Sky Botanicals, the Hammer Nutrition CBD offerings come from organically grown American hemp that is then processed via ethanol and CO2 extraction to make CBD oil. The Quality Badge is therefore, an easy get.
There are only four CBD products available from both brands that include broad spectrum CBD capsules, CBD oil tinctures, hydro tinctures, and CBD balm. The softgels and the hydro tinctures contain nanoemulsified, water-soluble CBD particles, while the other options are oil based. We’re happy to report the CBD balm is totally clean with all-natural ingredients like beeswax, MCT oil, and essential oils. Way to go on this one Hammer Nutrition (and Big Sky Botanicals).
Like Big Sky, Hammer Nutrition does not qualify for the Safety Badge since their CoAs are printed on internal letterhead. Hammer Nutrition’s products actually have a logo and lab director signature from Florida’s Green Scientific Labs that appear to be pasted onto the internally crafted reports. This won’t suffice. We’ll need to see original CoAs to grant them the badge, but it appears they are testing for all the right things — cannabinoid content and contaminants including residual solvents, microbials, pesticides, and heavy metals.
Hammer Nutrition offers a discount for high school/collegiate athletes and coaches through their Scholastic Program, but this doesn’t quite make the cut for the Charity Badge. Discounts that qualify in the industry include those for veterans, the disabled, low-income families, people that are categorically ‘in need’.
Bottom Line – Hammer Nutrition has years of experience in the supplement industry and provides a great selection of products for athletes and the active. Their CBD options are sourced and extracted cleanly, but like Big Sky Botanicals, we need to see independent CoAs to verify their potency and safety.
