The products arrived with an interesting old style themed publication that contained a lot of information as well as advertisements for a couple interesting products. The “CBD only” vape pen product really peaked my interest.
-The Elite Pen, capsules, and transdermal patch were effective; but the other products were not particularly effective. I take issues with some of the ingredients included in many of the recipes (details below) and received a few of the products with their safety seals either damaged, unsealed, or in one case completely separate from the product’s container.
-The CBD drops had a very pleasant cinnamon flavor that is not too overpowering. No other products are intended to be tasted.
Ease of use
-All topically used products are quite easy to use; as are the capsules and the transdermal patch. These are all very convenient products.
-Mary’s focuses on topical or transdermal application methods far more than any other company I am aware of. The Elite Pen is very convenient to carry and use once you get familiar with how the applicator works; and I think that is their best product I have used.
-All dosage details are in the individual product’s section below.
Value/Cost per milligram
-Implementing so many ingredients concerns me. Also, implementing a preservative such as optiphen (which is formaldehyde and paraben free) alongside parabens is a questionable practice. It totally negates the benefit of using such a preservative and calls into question how well these products were researched before being brought to market. Also, many of the safety seals were damaged or totally separated from their containers upon arrival. Another issue I noticed is that with the Elite Pen a 2mg dose was noticed as effective to me when rubbed into the top of my foot as per the instructions. However, the CBD drops are reported to be 2mg per drop on the product’s label; but using the recommended dose of 2 drops (4mg) did not produce any noticeable results, even when attempted on multiple occasions.
Would you buy it again? Why/why not?
Due to the safety, quality, and ingredient issues I would have to say no.
This product has the following questionable, personally unknown, or undesirable ingredients: oleic acid, isopropyl myrstate, plantamulse optiphen, carbomer, xanthan gum, blue & yellow dies, methylparaben, triethanolamine – Triethanolamine is an amine produced by reacting ethylene oxide (considered highly toxic) with ammonia (another known toxin).
Safety seal was not put on properly and product was leaking when it arrived:
I tried this once on very sharp knee pain after applying the Elite CBD Compound to no significant avail. I would not regularly use this product because of the methylparaben and other ingredients which I am not comfortable putting in or on my body. However, it produced a very similar result to the Elite CBD Compound. No significant reduction in pain; but noticeable increase in blood flow to the area. I find it strange that optiphen (a paraben and formaldehyde free preservative) is used in this product alongside methylparaben. This seems to make little sense to me as the benefits of using optiphne as a preservative are completely negated by including any parabens in the recipe.
Does not appear to have any CBD/hemp oil in the ingredients listed at all, contains xanthan gum, sodium benzoate, potassium sorbate, glycerophosphocholine, phosphotidyl-serine, gaba. I am unable to consume xanthan gum and not excited about consuming sodium benzoate or potassium sorbate. Therefore, I was not able to test this product.
Elite Botanicals CBD Drops (500mg bottle)
Flavor is quite nice. With many cinnamon flavoring agents in the ingredient list I expected an overpowering cinnamon flavor; but was pleasantly surprised with an aromatic and delightful flavor. It was not at all overpowering. The ingredient list is much shorter than the other products and all appear to be natural in origin. Cinnamon flavoring oil is a bit vague and confusing because cinnamon leaf & bark oil are listed prior, so I am unsure what this cinnamon flavoring oil ingredient is specifically. The dose on the label is 2 drops which is 4mg CBD. I must say, after using the pre-measured dose of 2mg from the elite pen I was expecting more out of these drops. I tried 2 drops under the tongue multiple times and did not notice any effect at all.
Elite CBD Gel Pen / CBD Gel Pen (pet product)
The packaging is unique and quite interesting. It is very convenient; but you must read the instructions on usage carefully. Because the packaging is so unique it is confusing when you attempt to use it the first time; this leads to some waste. The pet product is set to half strength; but as far as I can tell is the same recipe. Therefore, the pet product may be used by any human who wishes to have a lower strength product. I am greatly encouraged to see the recipe’s quality not altered in the pet product. Kudos to Mary’s! The Elite gel pen is quite effective and fast acting. I must admit I am quite surprised at how effective this product is. This, being such an innovative and unique product, is so new to me I was very skeptical; but I was very pleasantly surprised. This is an excellent product; way to go Mary’s!
Elite CBD Compound
Has a very pleasant aroma that is not too overpowering. Used on very sharp knee & moderate back pain; the benefit was a minor pain reduction. I can feel the “cold heat” type of blood flow enhancing properties of the compound that are familiar to any muscle rub; but the overall pain reducing capabilities are not very strong. I very much appreciate the use of optiphen (formaldehyde and paraben free preservative) alone and not in conjunction with parabens as were combined in the Muscle Freeze.
Safety seal was partially disconnected from product's container when it arrived:
Elite CBD Capsules (5mg)
have a much shorter ingredient list; which I very much appreciate. 1 capsule provides a very nice result. I am quite pleased with this product as well. Kudos Mary’s!
Safety seal was totally disconnected from product's container when it arrived:
Elite Transdermal patch (10mg)
I saved this product until I could do it justice. Since the main point of this product is pain relief, I used it on a day when I had a lot of work to do. Dealing with knee, low back, and neck pain is a great strain on my life. On the day I used this patch I had not only diapers to change; but gutters to clean, weeds to pull, and all manner of physical activity that included ladders, being on the roof, and bending over quite a lot. I cleaned my wrist in the manner indicated on the label and applied the patch about mid morning. After waiting well over an hour (just to make sure the product didn’t impair my ability to climb ladders and work on the roof) I started my day. Sadly, I did not experience any effect from this patch whatsoever throughout the entire day. My pain was as bad as usual, if not worse by the end of the day. I worse the patch for 10 hours.
