Nature's Root: 60-Second Summary
Colorado-based Nature’s Root has deep roots in the state’s CBD scene, with its founder connected to one of the state’s first legal hemp farms. The company says it’s committed to creating products that help people without harming the Earth, and we tend to believe them, though we’d still like to see a bit more information before awarding a badge for safety.
Nature's Root Brand Review
Nature’s Root is an ambitious company, offering a wide range of CBD-infused skincare products, as well as a CBD-based spa “hempire,” consisting of places where customers can relax while being treated with the cannabidiol-based substances the company cooks up.
From the get-go, the company seems focused on its mission to create products that help people—and animals—naturally heal without hurting the planet. It says its items are gluten-free, cruelty-free, “mostly” vegan (minus the odd inclusion of honey or gelatin), and organically sourced from the company’s own farm in Colorado.
CBD-based items span the gamut of skincare, from more common CBD oil tinctures (for humans and pets) to cannabidiol lip balms, to CBD lotions for moisturizing and pain relief. Other products include CBD-based itch balm, skin balm and salve, cannabidiol-based oil to relieve fresh tattoo pain and itchiness, CBD-infused deodorants, CBD gel capsules, and even a “superfood” tablet combining cannabidiol and chlorella. (Whew!)
Customers can also purchase various “kits” of the above items. Prices range just as widely as the collection of products, though they’re mostly low, and max out around $75 for the CBD oil capsules or $125 for the pain relief kit.
Nature’s Root says all of its ingredients are just as natural as its name implies, and we’d like to take their word for it, but the company only offers a list of “key ingredients” for each product. There’s also little in the way of test results for the purity of their products, though the company includes a batch number and expiration date on each item’s individual page.
Still, their commitment to helping others is also reflected in charitable endeavors. The company announced on its blog that it’s donating materials to help build a home in Jamaica made out of hemp. (The venture is in conjunction with the Colorado Hemp Project, Build Expo Jamaica, and Left Hand Hemp.) The final structure, Nature’s Root says, will be donated to a local family in need.
Bottom line: Nature’s Root has offered enough information to earn our quality badge, but providing not just a batch number but actual test results of their products would put it over the edge for a safety badge. Still, the company is continuing to grow, and may be a future innovator. And its commitment to its mission has helped it earn a charitable badge to boot.
