Pure Science Lab Review: 60-Second Summary
Although the solid product selection and good intentions of Pure Science Lab are a fantastic start, it’s not quite enough for us to wholeheartedly recommend them. The discrepancies in some essential facts posted on their site, as well as the lack of full Certificates of Analysis, forces us to remain on the fence about Pure Science Lab.
Pure Science Lab Brand Review
PureScienceLab.com has an impressive CBD product selection and variety; items range in price from $20 to $1,995 and include all the usual categories: tinctures, topicals, capsules, concentrates, edibles, teas, oils, and even a CBD formulation for pets.
Their mission is praise-worthy; PSL’s founder is a Crohn's disease survivor, and he claims to uniquely understand the importance of quality ingredients. However, there are a few inconsistencies with his and his brand’s story that concern us. He first claims to have a whopping 25 years experience in the alternative medicine industry, and then elsewhere states it is 30 years. That could be the result of not having a web person updating that information on a regular basis (it happens to the best of us).
But a far more worrying discrepancy is that the Pure Science Lab website states that their hemp comes from generational family farms in Europe in one place, yet another page indicates that all raw materials originate in the United States. PSL might simply need a skilled copywriter to unify the content on their site, but ultimately they leave it up to the customer to determine what (if any) other inconsistencies may exist and how important/not important they may be.
Perhaps the biggest omission for consumers is the lack of full Certificates of Analysis to verify the absence of common contaminants such as heavy metals, pesticides, herbicides, microbes, and residual solvents. While many product photos have printed test results for cannabinoid levels in the background of the product shot (and the header on the homepage has an image of a recent-ish CoA), these unfortunately aren’t enough for us to award PSL our coveted Safety badge. We need to see recent, detailed analyses by batch and, ideally, by product/SKU.
Despite these missteps, PSL’s product selection and passionate verbiage throughout their site indicate that they may indeed be a solid choice for one’s CBD-related needs. We encourage the publishing of necessary documents, so that we may ascertain the validity of Pure Science Lab’s intent and fully corroborate their glowing customer testimonials.
