PureKana: 60-Second Summary
PureKana utilizes novel strains of industrial hemp that have more flowers and a higher concentration of cannabinoids. Their product line is sleek and focused on quality rather than a barrage of options. Purekana did not qualify for the Safety Badge, falling short as they do not provide a Certificate of Analysis for each batch of product. And their charity work could use improvement too. With some minor enhancements, we can envision ranking PureKana higher among our community of trusted vendors.
PureKana Brand Review
PureKana earns relatively high marks for their attention to particular facets of running a CBD business that we find to be non-negotiable. PureKana states that they source their hemp solely from non-GMO hemp plants grown and processed under the Pilot Research Hemp Farms program in Kentucky. PureKana brings attention to new strains of U.S. industrial hemp that have been bred to grow more flowers and a more rich concentration/variety of terpenes and cannabinoids. The program, which is under the jurisdiction of the Kentucky Department of Agriculture, requires specific, highly-monitored protocols which guarantee consistency in the product. Herbicides, pesticides, and chemical fertilizers of any sort are strictly prohibited.
PureKana earns substantial points for consumer satisfaction, and they appear to be actively engaged with their customers by responding to feedback and creating a community feel by encouraging discussion and reviews. We appreciate that their product line covers the gamut by offering the standard options like full spectrum oil, capsules, pet products, topical skincare, and vape essentials along with the more nuanced, fun offerings like gummies and toothpicks. Yet, they don’t overwhelm with tons of choices, presenting only a few (sometimes only one) varieties in each category. This displays a level of quality that speaks for itself, where less is more.
PureKana aims to be transparent by publishing a Certificate of Analysis for their source material, proving it is free from common contaminants such as heavy metals, pesticides, and residual solvents. However, a vendor should be posting these CoAs regularly (optimally with each batch) for true transparency in the safety/quality department. Currently, the website has a CoA completed almost one year ago. PureKana shows plenty of promise, and with a few tweaks à la frequent third party test publishing and giving to charitable organizations, we would rank them higher among our list of vendors.
